At the Crossroads of Influence: Structuralisms in Serbia
Abstract
The paper gives an overview of the leading creators, schools and ideas of literary theoretical structuralism and semiotics in France, the Czech Republic and Russia, followed by a review of their penetration and spread in Serbia in the last third of the XX early XXI century. The second half of the 60s and the beginning of the 70s proved to be a golden age of translation and interpretation by French structuralists and Russian formalists. At that time, Serbia was catching up with the main currents of Western theoretical thought. The most significant influence on our theorists and critics, in addition to Russian formalism, was exerted by French narratology.
