Periodicals and Publishing of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Munich from 1945 to 1980 (II)
Abstract
The paper reconstructs the origin of the publishing activity of periodical and monographic publications of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the capital of Bavaria from 1945 to 1980. The research is based on archival materials from the Archives of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Munich and the Archives of the Cabinet of the Serbian Patriarch in Belgrade. The books, magazines, papers and bulletins produced within the Munich church publishing house in the specified period in the Federal Republic of Germany, the Hilandar monastery, and in specific libraries in Serbia are listed. The initial momentum with the publication of 4 issues of the parish magazine Život i rad was continued with the launch of the Svečanik religious-national library. During the more than two decades of the existence of this edition, 22 annual Church calendars with a religious reading book, 27 books, the Bulletin of the Feasts, 20 issues of the newspaper Sveta Srbija, greetings of the Feasts and a postcard with a picture of the unjustly imprisoned Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral Arsenije Bradvarević were printed. The circulation of all Svečanik's editions was more than 250,000 copies. The reasons that encouraged the publishers and authors and decided to, with outstanding personal separation, through the written word, communicate something to all those who were interested in hearing a church lesson or a national reminder are presented.
