Abstract
Студија Питера Брукса Балзакови животи (Brooks 2020), како и сȃм аутор у уводном дијелу подвлачи, „није биографија, већ антибиографија“ (Исто: 2, превод Д. И.). Њен циљ је да кроз анализу ликова из Људске комедије и њихових биографија прикаже не само историјску, културну и политичку стварност Балзаковог времена већ и да повеже реалност и књижевност 19. вијека у двостранично огледало у којем се оне преплићу, једна на другу пресликавају и тиме постају неодвојиве: „Балзаков опширни роман није само огледало његовог времена – он је настајање овог огледала самог“ (Исто).
