Mihail Bakhtin in Serbian Literary Criticism

Abstract

This paper reviews scholarly works on Mikhail Bakhtin in Serbian literary criticism. The year 1967 is taken as a milestone, which is when the first translation of Bakhtin’s work into Serbian was published, and the study of author’s work until recent times is then outlined chronologically. The paper does not aim to present all the texts published on Bakhtin, but to single out those that are important from a theoretical-historical point of view, as well as those that show possible directions of Bakhtin’s interpretation from the perspective of other theoretical branches, or those in which Serbian Bakhtinologists conduct theoretical dialogue with Bakhtinologists around the world.
